From a factory to a world famous brand...

1956
Akın Tekstil was founded in Bakirkoy, Istanbul by Rüştü Akın and Haydar Akın
1965
First export via Exporters’ Association
1967
Our spinning mill started production with Rieter technology machinery
1968
Dyeing&Finishing plant started production
1968
We were the first to use a Thermasol painting machine with teflon cylinder dryer in Turkey
1970
We manufactured the first pigment dyed fabric in Turkey
1982
We were the first to use air pressured weaving loom in Turkey
1986
We started direct export to Europe
1986
With an investment on garment we started to manufacture pants
1987
First Akın Garment collecion was introduced by using a computirized pattern modelling
1989
Garment section made first appearances at the iconic events like CPD-Dusseldorf, Koeln Sportwear-Herrenmodewoche, Sehm-Paris
1989
We inaugurated Airo 1000 machinery and manufactured fabric with mill wash effect
1990
Computerized cutting machine put in service of garment department
1990
We manufactured the first PU coated fabric in Turkey
1993
We started to construct our fully integrated facility in Luleburgaz
1995
We manufactured the first fabric made of Tencel® fiber in Turkey
1996
We started production in our integrated facility in Luleburgaz which is the pride of our country as one of the largest facilty in Europe
1996
15% of our shares were offered to the public for trading on Borsa Istanbul with the code ATEKS
1997
We received Oeko-Tex Standart 100 certification
1998
Our ISO 9001 Quality Management System certificate was issued
2004
Among the other Turkish companies accepted to the Premier Vision Paris for the first time, we proudly represented our country

We started apparel production in Arac, Kastamonu under AKTEK subsidiary

ISO 14001-2004 Environmental Management System certificate was obtained

Gots and Organic Exchange 100 Guidelines certificate received

We started garment finishing actovotied in Luleburgaz

Shirting fabric production started

We started to use organic cotton

It all started with a dream when Mr. Rüştü Akın and his brother Mr. Haydar Akın started Akın Tekstil with only 40 looms in 1956. From a small textile company with 23 employees, we evolved to a world famous fabric mill over the years.

Thanks to our competent and dedicated staff, our strong belief in customer satisfaction and continuous investments in technology and R&D we try to stay in the front line of competition.

We embrace the future respecting our heritage; for the past 16 years Akın Tekstil shares are being traded in Istanbul Stock Exchange under the name ATEKS. Our top management is consisted of sector professionals as well as Akın Family, who are both present as 2nd and 3rd generations. With this synergy we always remember our roots with our faces looking forward to offer the best service and product possible.
